Butterflies, "flying lucky fowers" on Plateau
Butterflies, "flying lucky fowers" on Plateau
In the mountain areas of southeastern Tibet, sunlight shines down upon the snow mountains opposite the valley. In the deep vallies, butterflies emerged from the pupa where they have stayed for the whole long winter, and slowly stretch their paper-thin wings.

With beautiful wings, these huge butterflies like to glide over the valley, overlooking the surging waves below in the river. Their black velet forewings are in sharp contrast to their shining golden underwings. Their wings can open as wide as more than 20 centimeters.
When is the best time to visit Tibet butterflies
Butterflies can be seen from April to Octomber in Tibet, but the best time is June, July and August. Usually the largest amount and kinds of butterflies can be viewed on the south slope of Himalayas Mountains. Because compared with the south slope, the north slope has lower rainfall, but if you want to view parnassiidee, you can find more species on the north slope.
