Landslide on China-Nepal Highway Leaves Numerous People Stranded

A landslide hit a section of the China-Nepal highwayin Tibet on Staturday, leaving about numerous people and vehicle stranded, Tibettravel.org reported.

Massive meters of rock and mud roared on a mountain slopelocated on the Nepal side of Friendship Highway. Nepal authorities has dispatched rescue teams to that area as soon as possible, but the rescue work was hampered bu the narrow road and the occurence of other minor landslides. Nepal militray also assigned helicopters to help. Because the rescue resource is very limited, the helicopter fee is about 275 USD dollars per person.

For now we don't have the exact number of victims of this disaster, but let's hope for the best.

China National Highway 318, linking Lhasa in Tibet with Kathmandu in Nepal, runs across therough terrain of the Himalayan mountains. Natural disasters such as landslides frequentlydisrupt traffic here.
