The straight-line distance from the base camp to the top of the peak is 19 kilometers. The camp's ticket price is 180 yuan (30 US dollars) per person and 400 yuan (64 US dollars) for each van.
The base camp is filled with Tibetan tents serving as hostels, teahouses, shops, and post office. Basically, there are solar cell panels in front of each tent to provide light at night.
