Neqoin Monastery near Lhasa City

Located in the country side, Neqoin Monastery is directly subordinate to Drepung Monastery, eight kilometers away from Lhasa suburb. Actually, Neqoin Monastery is not so big when compared with other famous temples. In Tibetans words, the name of Neqoin Monastery means "small place". Most travelers will think is as ordinary place if they do not know it much. Neqoin Monastery is the most famous senior Tibetan Buddhist college in history. Every year eminent monks who got Gussie degree are from Neqoin Monastery. The temple nowadays is still a famous Tibetan Buddhist college.
At the beginning of the 20th centry, Neqoin Monastery was in its prosperity period. There are treasuries for keeping treasures. The decoration of whole monastery seems magnificent. Around the monastery there is big forest park that keeps leopard and other wild beasts. The mural in Neqoin Monastery are also full of unique style. The topic of murals are mainly about the Guardians, inferno and suffering, etc. All of the murals are decorated with cold, golden, black and purple background that shows the mystery of Tibetan Buddhism. They are precious mural artistic heritage for Tibet as well as human beings.
