The number of swans at Qinghai Lake increases

Qinghai Lake is a famous tourist site in Xining. Many travelers would drop a visit to this lake before they travel to Tibet. The Qinghai Lake is China's biggest salt water lake. The number of swans at Qinghai Lake increases rapidly this year thanks to government's effective measures taken to protect the environment.

The latest remote sensing indicates that the lake has been expanding for eight consecutive years to 4402.5 square kilometers, the biggest in almost 12 years.

Qinghai Lake is known for its fascinating color changes, depending on the angle, time of day, and season it is viewed. It is home to 189 species of birds and forms a crucial barrier against the encroachment of the desert from the west.

If you are planning a Tibet tour, we highly recommend you to stay at least one day in Xining and pay a visit to the Qinghai Lake before you head to Tibet. Xining is the starting point of the world famous Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Every day, there are many trains to Tibet from Xining, thus it is very convenient for travelers.
