Tibet won’t raise tourist ticket price during National Holiday, remaining the same as the peak tourism season price, according to the Tibet Development and Reform Commission.

Tibet charges admission for major tourist attractions differently in the low and peak tourism seasons. The peak season usually starts from May 1st to October 31.

The ticket is 200 yuan per person for entering the Potala Palace, the architectural icon of Tibet, 60 yuan for the Norbu Lingka, 55 yuan for the Drepung Monastery, 80 yuan for the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of successive Panchen Lamas and 180 yuan for the Mt. Everest (Qomolangma) Scenic Spot.

In particular, motor vehicles have to pay for the highway maintenance fee for visiting the Mt.Qomolangma Scenic Spot. The amount depends on the size of the vehicles.

Big travel agencies in Tibet have seen a soaring number of tourists as the 8-day golden holiday (September 30 to October 7) is drawing near.

Given the high demands for visiting the Potala Palace during the holiday, tourists have applied for organizing group tour to Tibet in advance.

Besides, occupancy rate for major hotels will reach 80 percent or more although the price is likely to go up by 30 percent.
