International tourist town construction in full swing

The construction of Lhunam international tourist town in Bayi county, Nyingchi prefecture is underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014, according to chinatibetnews.com.

The government is pushing ahead with the project as scheduled. The new route of 318 National Highway has been paved. Besides, Lhunam elementary school has also gone under construction since March 15.

Drawings of water supply and drainage facilities are being examined and budgeted. The construction has been put out to tender and scheduled to begin on May 1. As the main commercial premises included in the tourist town, a shopping street will be set up by the end of this year.

At the same time, pan-Lhunam district is going to be landscaped. To avoid excessive and disorderly construction, the detailed development plan has been entrusted to School Of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University, said Cai Jiahua, the deputy commissioner of Nyinchi administrative office.

In addition, Nyingchi county has allocated 20 milllion yuan in the seventh sum of aid-Tibet fund to develop the scenic spots in the district of Yayi Valley and Yayi Lake.
