Now, the policy on Tibet travel permit is loosened, without restriction on nationality and tour group sizes (see details of Tibet permit policy 2013). So it is easy for foreigners to get Tibet permit since this April. April is a great time to view the beautiful spring scenery in Tibet.
April and May is considered the best time to enjoy spring scenery of Tibet. As the weather becomes warmer and warmer, Tibet’s tourism peak begins. April and May see much fewer tourists than that in summer, so it is much easier to book air/train tickets to Tibet and hotels in Tibet, and the price is also lower than that in summer.
In addition, Tibet will celebrate a very interesting traditional festival in this May – Saga Dawa Festival which Marks the date of Sakyamuni’s conception, enlightenment and entry into nirvana. Huge numbers of pilgrims walk Lhasa’s lingkhor circuit and visit Mt Kailash during the festival.
