Highest Civilian Airport On Earth


People predict that since its opening on Sept. 16, the current record will outnumber that of Bangda Airport, which is also located in Tibet at 4334 meters. Speaking of which, Himalayan region is full of highland airports, Daocheng Yading Airport being the 6th one. Officials say that they have even already made plans for the 7th airport in the Tibetan region, in addition to enhance the infrastructure of Tibetan Plateau.
It has now initiated a daily route from Chengdu. However, routes connecting with Chongqing, a southwest business center and Maerkang county are expected to open sometime around China’s National Day--Oct. 1. Travelers from some mega-cities like Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Xi’an, if want to take direct flight to Daocheng Yading, may fulfill their dream before 2014.
