There is no doubt that the scenery in Tibet is wonderful and breathtaking, but do not miss the beautiful sights on the way to Tibet. As foreigners usually travel to Tibet by train or flight, so we only focus on the scenery along the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
Let’s follow a foreign tourist who travelled to Tibet in this winter to enjoy the stunning scenery on the way to Tibet. This tourist kept a dairy to write down his feeling to the unique plateau scenery and culture.
The scenery alongside the
Qinghai-Tibet railway is poetic. Trains roar on the high plateau polished by the blue sky, braving the flowing snowflakes and reflecting the dazzling sunshine. Suddenly a van comes into sight, and you will never know its destination when it disappears in nowhere.
Compared with the chill outside, inside the railway carriage it is warm and cozy. Sitting by the window, Tibetan herdsmen are seen raising yaks. Some of them feel so cold that they stay by a soil pit to escape the cold. The rivers are frozen and dormant. Pollution is rarely seen here alongside the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Nature and humankind are in harmony.
With an average elevation of 4,000 meters, the Qinghai-Tibet plateau is like a secluded paradise. The creatures living on it deserve admiration for their strong adapting ability. And it is in such a harsh environment, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway was built by people with strong determination and perseverance.
Wild horses and Tibetan antelopes are running in the icy land. Passengers are attracted by the bald mountains covered by snow, the tiny villages and temples as well as the corrals almost buried under the snow.
In the cold of night, the train arrived in Lhasa, the terminal of the rail way and the beginning of the trip.
Actually, winter is really a quite wonderful time to visit Tibet. You can not only enjoy considerable discount on tickets of tourist sites, hotels, service fees and so on, but also see a different Tibet.
