During the summer holiday in China, more and more travelers flock into Tibet. Lhasa railway station receives over 3700 passengers daily. In order to raise the level of transport capacity of the railway, the oxygen supplying trains to Lhasa from Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou will allocated to Xining. Travelers traveling to Lhasa by train from the above cities will take ordinary train to Xining and then change into the oxygen supplying train at Xining railway station carriage for carriage and seat for seat under the help of train conductors.
Except the schedule of the trains K9812 from Lhasa to Xining and K9811 from Xining to Lhasa, the schedule of the trains connecting Lhasa with Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Xining will be regulated from July 1.
The train from Lhasa to Chengdu (T24) or Chongqing (T224) will start from Lhasa railway station at 10:00am, nearly three hours earlier than before.
The train from Lhasa to Beijing (T28) will start from Lhasa railway station at 13:48pm, 3 minutes later than before.
The train from Lhasa to Shanghai (T166) will start from Lhasa train station at 11:30am, 5 minutes later than before.
The train from Lhasa to Guangzhou (T266) will start from Lhasa railway station at 12:08pm, minutes later than before.
The trains from Lhasa to Lanzhou (K918) and to Xining (K9802) will still start from Lhasa train station at 8:20am.
This regulation on the trains to and out of Lhasa will greatly improve the capacity of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the only railway connecting Tibet with the outside world. But booking train tickets to Tibet and out of Tibet in advance is still necessary as it is really the peak tourism season of Tibet and
Tibet train tour is very popular among both domestic and overseas tourists.
