66-year-old couple travel to Tibet by motorbike
A Wonderful Trip to Tibet
Gao Qingqi, a 66-year-old man from Han Cheng, a city of Shanxi Province, traveled to Tibet by motorbike within a month, with his wife.
Touched by the story of a seventeen years old college girl who cycled from Chengdu to Lhasa during the summer holiday, the old man decided to ride a motorcycle to Tibet from his hometown. Half years ago, he began to prepare his tour to Tibet. He bought more than one hundred items, such as sleeping bags, tents, helmets, raincoats, down jackets, trekking shoes and anti-high altitude sickness medicine.
On September 9, 2011, he and his wife started their trip to Tibet. They rode to Lhasa along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. It was a hard journey for them. On one hand, they were too old. On the other hand, they had to get rid of all kinds of difficulties on the way. For example, his wife suffered from serious high altitude sickness when they arrived at Litang County at altitude of 4000m. In order to continue their trip, he persuaded his wife to take a bus and he rode after the bus. On rainy day, it was difficult to judge the road condition.
Though the trip to Tibet was full of difficulties and danger, they felt so happy that they got an eyeful of the breathtaking scenery on the way. They spent three days in Lhasa and then rode back home along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway.
This tour to Tibet would be their most unforgettable and impressive trip in their life.

Over the years, she travelled overseas with Tibet Tourism Bureau many times to promote Tibet tourism. Currently, Catherine works as the marketing director of Tibet Vista, an opinion leader behind the whole team of Tibet Vista.
