Along the way from the Mt. Budangla, alpine grasslands and highland gorges appeared one after another. The deep ravines, snowy mountains and grasslands were decorated by brown plains, flocks of cattle and stand-alone Tibetan yards–everything seemed to be antediluvian.
Sewu is the word for crow in Tibetan language. The Sewu Hot Spring, also called Crow Spring, sits in Sewu Village of Qiuduojiang County and is 36 kilometers away from the county town. We crossed the canyon and headed toward Crow Spring.
The steam greeted us with a smell of sulphur and we knew we had arrived at Sewu Hot Spring. The warm water poured down from above the hill. As the stairs went up, we saw Tibetan houses built against the hill. Wood piled up next to the houses and was covered by asphalted felt. Below, there was the hot spring. Men and women squeezed inside the pool, all naked. Yet nobody felt embarrassed. Elder ladies welcomed us with warm smiled.
