Many travelers to Lhasa may only focus on the grand Potala Palace, the holy Jokhang Temple, the busy Barkhor Street or the heavenly Lake Namtso. In fact, there are also many other interesting places. They may be known by few tourists, but they are no less awe-inspiring. Take a small village called Caina for example. When I travelled to Tibet in this August, my Tibetan friend Nyima picked me up at the Gonggar Airport. On the way from the airport to Lhasa city, I was shocked by the rape flowers by roadside. You know, it was really strange for me to see such flowers in this season. So I asked my friend to drive off the highway at the exit of Caina Village and get on the rural road.
Though the country road was a little bumpy, it was very pleasant to drive on it because it runs through fields of green highland barley and golden rape flowers. We got off the car and walked into the fields where bees and birds were busy in the colorful world. After walking through the flower field and woods, we came to the bank of Lhasa River. Looking into the river, I saw beautiful white clouds floating in the river. Not far from us, a group of Tibetan people were enjoying picnic. On seeing us, they asked us to join in them. We accepted their invitation happily. During picnic, they told us that the village was only 40 km away from Lhasa city and that there was a bus shuttling between this place and the city every day. So we decided to spend the whole afternoon in this beautiful village and continued to Lhasa downtown in the evening.
