The 12th Peach Blossom Festival featuring various activities was kicked off in Nyingchi Tibet, on March 26.
The Nyingchi Airport has already been put into operation which makes the peach blossom kingdom much close to the outside world. The airport has several flights leaving from Chengdu every week. Highways from Lhasa to Nyingchi are paved with asphalt, so it is easy for tourists to rent a car in the Bayi Town of Nyingchi.
The fare for a mini-bus is around 200 yuan per day while that for an off-road vehicle is much more expensive. Besides, it is cost-efficient to enter Nyingchi by plane than train in Mar.
In addition, tourists can firstly go to Lhasa by air and then take the bus to Nyingchi. The Lhasa-Nyingchi shuttle bus leaves at 8:00 am every day, traveling 633 kilometers. The ticket price is 155 yuan per person.
With relatively low altitude, the climate in Nyingchi is gentle, so you don’t have to worry about the altitude sickness.
Food
There are some typical foods in Nyingchi besides regular food like highland barley wine, zanba (roasted highland barley flour) and butter tea.
Nyingchi is a multi-ethnic region with Tibetan, Lhoba, Moinba, Dengba and so on. The most typical food of Lhoba ethnic group is roasted mice, which is usually for distinguished guests.
Highland fish is delicious during the peach blossom season. Restaurants along streets of the Bayi Town are usually full of tourists who come to taste the yummy dish.
