Covering an area of 12.2 square meters which accounts for 11.5 percent of Lhasa, the Lhalu wetland is a national nature reserve with an average altitude of 3,600 meters.
As the largest and highest urban wetland in the world, the Lhalu wetland is able to absorb 78, 800 tons of carbon dioxide and produce 53,700 tons of oxygen per year through photosynthesis, thus enjoying the reputation as “the lung of Lhasa”.
