The thousand-year old legend of Namtso Lake says: “Those who sit here in meditation for a while would be rewarded satori and Bodhisattvabhumi”. It is said that Namtso is the wife of the god of Nyenchen Tonglha Mountains and the incarnation of Vajrayogimi–mother of Buddh in her supineness. She owns complete body, speech and mind. If one is able to walk around the lake, he or she will be blessed with profound learning, boundless virtues and virtuous deeds. Thus the person will get rid of his vices and agony and eventually acquire satori and immortality.
