2014 Sumzom Horse Racing Festival was held in Sumzom township of Bome County, Tibet, in the past couple of days, with over 4,000 people taking part in.
Sumzom Horse Racing Festival involves many activities, among which are horse racing, horsemanship, folk dances, and field races, to name a few.
Not only local residents in Sumzom, but also people from neighboring townships, such as Dorje and Yupug, and tourists have joined in the revelry.
Snacks, beverages and specialties brought by 56 local farmer families sold so well during the festival that the income in only two days has reached as much as 336,000 yuan.
The venue of this year’s festival is well chosen that it is open and wide enough to contain more audiences willing to take part. The festival is sure to boost tourism in Bome County.
