The Tibet Ancient Books Protection Center launched in the Sera Monastery Institute of Tibet Buddhist College in Lhasa, Feb.20, 2014.
It was reported that the Tibet Ancient Books Protection Center has finished the general survey and registration of ancient books preserved in Tibet’s Ngari Prefecture, Nagchu Prefecture, Lhoka Prefecture, Nyingchi and Lhasa. Altogether 158 ancient books were included in the National Rare Ancient Books List.
In 2007, the Sera Monastery and Jokhang Temple took the lead in establishing ancient books protection organizations, which made great contributions to the rescue, protection and utilization of ancient books.
