Spring is not only a season full of hope and excitement, but also a great time to visit east Tibet. Nyingchi is one of the most popular destinations in Tibet, alongside Lhasa and Shigatse. Nyingchi in spring is a famous for its gorgeous peach blossoms in the embracing of Mt. Namjagbarwa, the most beautiful mountain in China. The amazing combination of peach blossoms and snow peaks attracts numerous travelers and photographers to Tibet in March and May.
With an average altitude of 3,100 meters and surrounded by the snow-capped Himalaya mountain range, Nyingchi welcomes spring earlier than the rest of Tibet. The numerous peach trees scattered across the prefecture is coming into bloom, the local government is busy preparing for the annual peach blossom tourism festival starting on March 15, 2013.
