“The Tibetan antelopes have launched their migration at the beginning of May, which has become ten days in advance than usual.”Mao Shiping, the official with the Naque Forestry Bureau said.

Up to now,Tibet has set up 205 observation stations to monitor the migration of the Tibetan antelopes in the south of the protection area,he said, the wildlife observers will protect them on the way alongside the observation stations.

Mao said that it is normal for the Tibetan antelopes to start migration about ten days ahead, since the different population and climatic environment.

The Changtang National Natural Protection Area, covering an area of 298,000 square kilometers, has established six Tibetan antelopes’ conservation zones, which located in the Co Nyi Special Administrative County, the Nyima County, and the Amdo County of the Naque Prefecture in the north of the protection area and the Gertse County, the Rutog County and the Gegye County of the Nagri Prefecture in the south of the area, said Mao.

“The Tibetan antelopes will arrive in their destination very soon”, Karma Tsedrup, the head of the Nagri Forestry Public Security Bureau told us.

They have launched their migration in the middle of April in the north of the protection area, around 20 days ahead than usual, said Karma Tsedrup.

He also said that the security will enhance the protection to the Tibetan antelopes on their way of migration.

The Changtang National Natural Protection Area has build up in 1993,with about 50,000 Tibetan antelopes, said Mao,but the number of them has increased to 150,000 now.

Mao told us that Tibet has put the patrol on the priority of the preservation to the Tibetan antelopes .There are 200 full-time wildlife protectors working in the protection zones, protecting them from hunting and killing.

The regional security also attach importance on the popularization of the Wildlife Protection Law to the locals,in order to promote the protection of the Tibetan antelopes ,Karma Tsedrup added.
