Jinying Grassland
Jinying Prairie is one of the 4A-level (5A being the highest level) tourist attractions in Haiyai county of Qinghai province. Jinying literally means gold and silver in English. Accordingly, Jinying prairie is believed to be a land of abundant resource and treasure. Wang Luobin, a renowned Chinese song writer and ethnic music researcher , was inspired by the beauty of Jinying prairie, wrote the well-known song “ in that place faraway”.
For generations, Tibetan nomads live in this place and there are approximately over 300 thousand livestock graze on the rich grass. The best travel season covers from July to September. The pastoral scenery is adorned with vibrant grassland and numerous little known flowers and grazing livestock. The place is also noted for the first base of nuclear weapon research in China. Tourists can visit the nuclear museum and the deserted factories.
