Travel Tips for 17-day Kailash Manasarovar Full Moon Tour & Guge Kingdom Tour
1. Why touring Mt. Kailash during the full moon is that speical?
Religiously, the full moon, the year of horse and Saga Dawa Fesitval are believed to be the most auspicious time for the Mt. Kailash kora. The blessings you accumulate during this time for the Mt.Kailash kora would multiply than the ordinary days. Probably, it’s more likely to experience more divine experiences as well.
2. How can you make sure I visit Mt.Kailash during the full moon?
All the tour departure dates are carefully calculated based on the lunar calendar, making sure you can either arrive at Darchen during the full moon or during your 3-day trek around Mt.Kailash.
3.  What are the highlights for touring western Tibet?
Western Tibet, mostly the Nagari Prefecture, is famed for its extreme altitude (averaging 4500m above the sea level), incredibly unspoiled wilderness and tough living environment.
You can challenge yourself for the ultimate spiritual walk around holy Mt.Kailash; meditate and enjoy hot spring beside the sacred Lake Manasarovar; gaze at the breathtaking boundless Zanda Clay Forest, and discover the mysterious Guge Kingdom that disappeared overnight in Tibetan history, or get a glimpse of running wild asses, etc.
The spiritual adventure and utterly different landscape and innocent smile of locals there will leave you in awe.
4.  Anything I should be careful with when visiting Mt. Kailash?
First and foremost is to dress probably for the erratic weather in the Mt. Kailash region. Do keep warm in multiple layers. And travel light with a pair of trekking poles is always recommended.
Find your own pace of trekking. If you feel the trek is beyond your physical limit, you may ask our guide to help you hire a horse and herdsman before the trek. Then it will be more manageable.
