Trekking at average of above 5000m is a huge challenge to tourists, both physically and mentally. The highest pint one has to pass through is Drolma Pass (5630m). The best season to do kora around Mount Kailash is from mid-May to mid- Oct. Porter and yaks are available to carry your supplies, at 280 Yuan per day.
Prostrating Tibetan Pilgrims along the Kora Route
As you trek around holy Mt. Kailash, you will be deeply impressed with devotion shown by the prostrating Tibetan pilgrims. Sometimes, they will do kora with their family, and when they get hungry, they would simply find a place and set fire in the wilderness and eat with their relatives. Wearing a big smile on their face, the devout and friendly pilgrims prompt you to rethinks about your life, religion and personal pursuit.
Harmonious Scene Caught during the Kora
If you get tired during the kora, you may have a rest with other trekkers and pilgrims. They would love to share their snacks and food with the visitors. All the way, you will be accompanied by stunning mountains, colorful prayer flags and little-known flowers and sometimes rarely seen small animals.
