Turquoise Yamdrok Lake is one of top three sacred lakes in Shannan Prefecture, while other two well-known heavenly lakes are Namtso Lake, located on the border between Damxung County, Lhasa and Baingoin County, Nagqu Prefecture and Manasarovar Lake in Ngari Prefecture. Besides, it is the closest sacred lake that one can enjoy from Lhasa City. It only takes around 3 hours’ drive. By following the winding road to mountaintop, you can enjoy the incredible panorama of deep-blue lake with snow-capped mountainous range as the splendid backdrop. Just paying a few bucks, you can take pictures with tamed Tibetan mastiffs.
