This tour covering Yunnan, Tibet and Kathmandu starts from Kunming known as the "Spring City" or "Flower Capital" to Lhasa famed as "the City of Sunshine", then to Kathmandu, a golden heaven to the most famous artists in the world.
Tour Type: Escorted Private Tour
Upon arrival in Kunming, you will be greeted by your local tour guide at the airport and taken to your hotel. The rest time is free for you to have a good rest and prepare for your trip.
Overnight in Kunming
In the morning, drive 86 km to the Stone Forest. There is a local saying: 'It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming'. The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder. After lunch drive back to Kunming and visit the Golden Temple. And then, take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. After, visit the Flower and Bird Market in the downtown. At night, board your overnight train to Dali.
Overnight in the train
You will arrive in Dali in early morning. Your local guide and drive will meet you at the railway station and take you to visit Erhai Lake by boat and Jinsuo Island. After landing, head for Xizhou Town to fully appreciate Bai-style architecture, taste their fragrant three-course tea and explore their distinctive culture. At last, you will visit Zhoucheng Town, and Bai people's Tie-Dyed Cloth Work Shop. Today you can have a further understanding to local custom and culture of Chinese national minorities.
Overnight in Dali
Take a bus to Shaxi, explore the ancient tea horse caravan trail, stroll around ancient town and local village, visit the traditional theater and temple, and most prosperity tea horse family in history garden, listen to the historical stories about the tea horse caravan trail. Shaxi in the historic Market Square of the old village of Sideng, was once a vibrant staging post along the Tea and Horse Caravan Trail, which primarily channeled trade in tea, horses and other valuables between diverse ethnic groups residing along the eastern Himalayan riff beginning in the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907).
Overnight in Shaxi
Take bus to Lijiang, stroll around Lijiang old town, black dragon pool, Mu masion and Naxi museum. At night enjoy the traditional Naxi musical performance.
Overnight in Lijiang
Walk around Baisha, an old village where the incredible frescoes tell you the history. Then you keep taking your steps, reach the formal residence of Rock the American shcorlar. You will understand why Rock said: I prefer dying amidst the flowers which at the foot of Jade dragon mountain rather than lying on the bed of Hospitals. Pilgrimage from Shuhe to Yuhu village, to understand more deep culture of the Naxi and Yi ethnic culture. Where is at the foot of Jade dragon snow mountains, on the way visit the frescoes and the Tibetan style monastery, and the formal residence of American schorlar.
Overnight in Shuhe town
After breakfast, we will drive to Zhongdian (Shangri-la). This is an extraordinary scenic mountain drive and there will be many opportunities to stop and observe both the natural beauty and traditional cultural practices. Along the way, we will stop and visit the spectacular Tiger Leaping Gorge – one of the deepest gorges in the world.
Overnight in Zhongdian
Fly to the holy city of Lhasa, capital of the mystical Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet. Your Tibetan guide and driver will meet you at the airport and then transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure for you to relax and acclimatization. You are suggested to drink some more water and eat some fruit which will help you to acclimate the high altitude. Please do not do much exercise or activities. Please do not smoke and drink alcohol if possible.
Overnight in Lhasa
In the morning, go to visit the famous Potala palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during Songtsen Gonpo's reign by princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkor Kora.
Overnight in Lhasa
We will begin our tour at Drepung Monastery which is used to be the most large monastery in Tibet where lodged more than 10000 monks at its summitin the morning. After that, you will visit the Sera Monastery which is famous for its Buddism scriptures Debating in the afternoon. You will finish today's activity after the Norbulingka Park which is the summer palace of Dalai Lama and later served as the governmental administration center. Today you will experience how the Lama study the Buddism scriptures and also touch the real life of local tibetan people.
Overnight in Lhasa
At around 08:00am, our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel, then we leave Lhasa to Namtso Lake. Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges appear in front of you all the way. In summer (May to August), the sheepherders and their family move to grassland and set up their tents, you could see green grassland, groups of sheep and yaks, nomad tents by the road. Namtso Lake is the Heavenly lake popular among tourists and Tibetan people. You can do a very relax trekking around the lake side and Tashi Island. In late afternoon, drive back to Lhasa.
Overnight in Lhasa
Drive to Gyantse after breakfast. On the way, Yamdrok-tso Lake can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass (4794m). Yamdrok is one of Three Holy Lake in Tibet (the other two are Namtso Lake and Lake manasarovar). When you arrive at Gyantse, visit Pelkor Chode Monastery. The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode (10,000 Images Stupa).
Overnight in Shigatse
Early morning visit Tashilunpo monastery, then start driving to Rongphuk via Lhatse and Shegar, cross over Gyatsola & Pangla Pass, where you can have a glimpse of 4 mountains which are 8000m high or more, that is, Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Qowowuyag (8201m) and Mt Mayalu (8463m). Rongphu is the highest monastery in Tibet, still a good point to see Mt. Everest. Afternoon start trekking from Rongphu to E.B.C, it takes about 2 hours. Or you can take a local sight seeing bus.
Overnight at Rongphuk (guest house)
Get up early. If you are lucky enough, you will see sunrise at the Everest Base Camp. Then drive to Zhangmu Town. You'll pass Mount Shishapangma (26,286 feet) on the way and cross two major passes - the Lalung La (16,811 feet) and the Nyalam Ton La, also known as the "pass to hell at 17,060 feet. Below Nyalam, the road descends steeply into the river valley of the Bhote Kosi. The flourishing border town of Zhangmu (or Dram) clings to the mountainside with the highway crisscrossing between homes and storefronts.
Overnight in Zhangmu
Our Guide will drop you off at next morning at the border bridge. You are kindly required to walk on your own to cross the border bridge which is 50m long, then check in Nepal side. You can get the Nepal visa upon arrival with 30USD, please prepare one photo at passport size to get Nepal Visa. The next step, the Nepal tour guide will go cross the border bridge to China side which is 50m long to meet you, then you follow the Nepal tour guide to check in Nepal side, and then drive you to your hotel in Kathmandu.
Overnight in Kathmandu
Just enjoy your day in Kathmandu. In the morning, you can visit the Hindu site at Pashupatinath and the Buddhist site of Bodhanath. Your afternoon is at leisure to explore Kathmandu's narrow, bustling streets lined with small shops and restaurants.

After a long trip in Tibet, today is time to say goodbye. Transfer to Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight to next destination.
