Namye Vally locates in the Namye Township of south Mainling County, Nyingchi Prefecture of east Tibet. Five kilometers away from the county town, Namye Valley is famous as the birthplace of Tibet medicine.
It is said that the first ancestor of Tibet medicine, Yuthok Nyingma Yonten Gonpo once lived here, taught students and treated patients in the Namye Vally, therefore, the valley became the important place of origin of Tibet medicine.
The ecosystem in Namye Vally is well protected. Because of its wet climate, rich animal and plant resources, and an average elevation of 2,500 meters, the Namye Vally is also known as the "Green Peak in China" and the highest green fairyland in the earth. It is not only a folk tourism spot, but also an ecotourism region.
