Overview
What Makes this Tibet Trip Different?
A peaceful alpine hike just outside Lhasa leads you through silent snow mountains to the hidden Yitso Lake, where nature’s stillness inspires strength, fearlessness, and a deeper connection with yourself.
Tibetan Travel Guru,Master Kungga Dundruk
Just 20 minutes from downtown Lhasa, you can leave the noise of the city completely behind.
No traffic. No crowds. Only the wind in your face and a trail leading deep into the snow-covered mountains.
This is a hike that truly allows you to slow down and reconnect with nature.
Following the valley upward, you’ll gain around 800 meters in elevation as the air grows thinner and the mountain winds stronger. With almost no shelter around, the towering snow peaks stand silently against the sky.
Along the way, endless mountain ranges surround you from every direction.
The silence here feels almost sacred — like another world above the snow line. No distractions, no noise, only the sound of the wind moving through the valley. This is where the purest conversation between people and nature begins.
At the end of the trail lies Yitso Lake, a small alpine lake resting quietly among the mountains.
Its shape resembles a single tear, which is why it is known as “The Last Tear of Lhasa.”
The lake may be small, but its stillness is deeply moving.
Standing here, you begin to understand something about the mountains:
They depend on nothing.
They simply stand there, quietly,
yet strong enough to endure time and every storm.
And perhaps that is the true beauty of this journey.
Not only the landscapes, but the feeling you carry back with you —
to be fearless, independent, and steady, even when facing wind and snow head-on.
