 The Conditions of the Ways to Tibet

 Sichuan-Tibet northern way switch to southern way-------Chengdu to Xinduqiao Sec.1(For details,see the Sichuan-Tibet southern),Xinduqiao to Bamei, new motorway. Bamei to Gaanzi, parts of way are repaired. The road of Ganzi to Xinluhai is right, leaving Xinluhai to Dege, expect the ways of raise and down Queer Mount are poorer quality, the others are normal. Vehicles must be careful the pits and big stones on the way while passing the Queer Mount. This year the snow falling heavily so there is much snow, and you have pay attention to the sudden snow. Because of the damages of cars,we suggest that cars would better not to try to pass over the Queer Mount now. The way of Dege to Jiangda Tibet is gravel road, it is wet and slippery, you must to prevent side slide especially in parts of twisting mountain road. Jiangda to Tuoba town in Changdu(120km) was the worst road in northern, but now it was rebuild, the time passing this way shortened a half, now just spend 2.5 hours. The way of Changdu to Bangda is right, after pass over the Yela mountain pass there is a 40km gravel road between Bangda to Basu, it is twisted down hill road, it should be much more careful in rainy and snowy. There are also 55km road are repaired between Ranwu to Bomi during this way you must should be careful the falling stones in rainy season. The way from Ranwu to Gulai glacier is very poor, the cars could’t drive on it. Tongmai is not restricted driving, and the 23km way to Yigong lake is cross-country road, it is need high quality vehicles and strong bodies. The way to Midui glacier is a 6km gravel road. The way of Nyingtyi(Bayi) to Lhasa is better. (The earthquake in last year has not influence )

2.Sichuan-Tibet northern way(Chamdo to Nagchu)----entire way are gravel road, some parts are repairing, off-road vehicle could pass.But Chamdo to Leiwuqi are very diffcult to drive, many parts could not passing normally,it should be pay more attention to in rainy season. Usually, the speed per hour is about 30-40km/h, please pay attention to schedule arranging.

3. Sichuan-Tibet southern way -----the way of Chengdu to kangding is right. In Kangding, from up and pass over Zheduo mountain this part are bad, there are many pitted with holes and short time road closure construction. The way from Xinduqiao to Litang is on and off, you must be careful the sudden pits and bulging. The repairing of Litang to Batang basically finished, compared with repairing before, the length shorten about 30km.After Jinsha river to Mangkang, the road (68km) is valley gravel road, narrow and many curves, pay more attention to the falling stones or collapse in rainy season, recently, it is repaired, the time you spend pass there increased by a half. The way from Mangkang to Zuogong is covered with gravel and clay, and goes by way of Lantsang river, so it should be drive carefully. Dongda mount has much snow, so prevention of slide is necessary, especially in rainy season, there is always happens collapse.There is no problem from Zuogong to Bangda, tar road.The following part see in the 1st paragraph.

4.Everest Mount---- The way of Lhasa to Shigatse is new building. If you choose the way from Yamzho Lake,pass Langkazi, Jiangzi,Bailang to Shigatse or drive more 90km, the repairing are finished, there are polices monior the speed. The old way from Tingri to Rongbo Monastery has repaired. Now you can drive to Rongbo Monastery (the price is 400CNY/car), the  tickets of EBC bought on the cross to Tingri. Attention, if you want to go to Zhangmu Port: the repairing of the  way from Nielamu to Zhangmu is coming to a close, but sometimes it also has restricted driving.

5.Qinghai-Tibet(Gomud to Lhasa)----some parts from Dangfula Mountains to Xidatan are repairing, so some sections are difficult to pass for cars.Fast driving and night driving should be more careful the road, especially some sudden swells and pits on the way may give you a “surprising”, and pay more attention to your chassis in case of demaging. The whole way from Yanshiping to Lhasa was monitored and by polices, the time may spend more 4hours than before.

6. Qinghai-Tibet(Xining---Yushu----Tibet)Most parts of the ways from Xining to Maduo,Yushu,Nangqian are smooth tar road. There is a 80km glavel road from Nangqian to Leiwuqi town. After entering Tibet the roads are right, but from Leiwuqi town to Changdu and Naqu , the roads are terrible.

7.Namdrotso----New building road, cars can pass. After the speed limited, the time of single is about 4.5hours.

8.Shannan,Tibet----the ways in western are right, but from Tsedang to Dongqusong, in sections of Jiacha,Langxian are terrible.To Namladrotso even worse.

9.Gannan----Start from Lan zhou to Linxia,Xiahe,Langmusi,Ruoergai,Chuanzhusi(cross to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong) the tar roads were finished. By contrast,Songpan,Maoxian and Wenchuan affected by Wenchuan earthquake the roads are worse.

10.A li---By contrast the roads in this area are worse and very complex, the hardest way is to Zhada, for cars are difficult to pass. Northern roads are better(22Bandao—Cuoqin—Gaize—Geji—Shiquan river) ,a good news is in southern,from Bage to Shiquan river about 100km has open to traffic. We suggest that self-drive travelers should better preview the travelling strategy and cars would better not to go. Especially in rainy season

After June, stucking in mud and wading are frequently,you should prevent repairing cars,asking help and fueling(Payang,Bage,Taqin haven’t regular petrol station) The repairing of the way from Bage to Pulan is going to finish(about 70km).From Bangongcuo to Yecheng, you will pass a“life forbidding zone” about 500km, it is difficult to repairing and fueling.

 11.Yunan-Tibet-----The whole road from Feilai Monastery to Yantian is repairing, considering the time is necessary, the way from Yanjing to Mangkang is right. Arrived Mangkang, you are on Sichuan-Tibet southern way.
