1984: Where Our Journey Began

Our story began long before Tibet travel became widely known to the world.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the founders of Tibet Vista were already deeply involved in Tibet’s inbound tourism, working at the Shigatse Tourism Bureau.

During this period, they were responsible for welcoming and assisting international travelers visiting Tibet.

At the same time, our current customer service Manager, Mr. Kunga Dhundup, began his journey as a professional tour guide, guiding travelers across the plateau and gaining first-hand experience of Tibet’s landscapes, people, and travel realities.

Our Customer Service Manager Kunga Mr. Kunga has been guiding since 2006 and won 'China’s Best Tour Guide' Gold in 2019.

2006: Entering the Digital Era

As the world entered the digital era in the early 21st century, Tibet Vista embraced the opportunities of the web age.

In 2006, we launched our first official website, www.tibettravel.org, followed later by www.tibettour.org.

Through these platforms, we began sharing reliable, up-to-date travel knowledge and practical guidance about Tibet. Over the years, our online resources have helped countless travelers from around the world better understand Tibet and confidently plan their journeys.

Meet Globle Tourists from Website More international tourists found us through our website and began their journey to Tibet with us.

2006-2010: Introducing Small Group Travel in Tibet

Around 2010, Tibet’s inbound tourism faced a major challenge.

Due to the vast size of the plateau, long travel distances, and limited infrastructure, travel costs were high, making Tibet difficult for many international travelers to access.

In response, Tibet Vista began exploring a new idea - bringing travelers with similar schedules together. This simple yet thoughtful change led to a meaningful transformation, laying the foundation for what is now known as small group travel in Tibet.

What we are most proud of is that from 2010 to 2026, we have continuously refined and improved this small group travel model. While traveling together, we never treat our guests as a crowd. We focus on quality, on individual experience, and on listening carefully to every traveler’s needs.

Even within the same group, our service remains personal and flexible. We respect different travel paces, interests, and expectations, and we strive to help each guest fulfill their own vision of traveling in Tibet.

Today, more than 6,000 international travelers join and trust our small group tours every year. What they share is not only a journey that is safer and more cost-effective, but also a travel experience built on care, connection, and genuine human moments.

This is how Tibet Vista has grown - from local roots, to the digital world, and into a travel model that brings people together across cultures, landscapes, and time.

2010-2015: Growing Through Trust and Feedback

Between 2010 and 2015, Tibet Vista experienced a period of steady growth and increasing recognition among international travelers.

During these years, more and more guests chose to travel with us and share their experiences publicly. Our reviews on Tripadvisor gradually grew and eventually surpassed 1,000 five-star ratings, reflecting the trust travelers placed in our service.

Not every journey during this time was perfect.

Some guests pointed out areas where we could improve, and a few chose not to leave five-star reviews. We have always believed that honest feedback — even when critical — is essential to long-term growth.

Unlike many others, we never asked guests to remove or revise negative reviews.

Instead, we listened carefully, learned from every comment, and focused on immediate improvement. Wherever a problem appeared, we worked to address it directly and raise our standards.

Throughout this period, our guide team expanded to 20 professionals, bringing together some of the most experienced inbound tour guides in Tibet. Their local knowledge, responsibility, and care became the backbone of every journey on the plateau.

At the same time, a strong sense of collaboration took shape within Tibet Vista.

From marketing and sales to operations and tour guides, our teams worked more closely than ever before, sharing information, feedback, and a common commitment to quality.

From 2010 through 2015, our brand Tibet Vista and our main website tibettravel.org also rose to the top of major search engines such as Google. Behind these results was not advertising alone, but close cooperation between our editorial and guide teams, who created practical, reliable, and deeply useful travel guides about Tibet.

These years laid a solid foundation for everything that followed — shaping not only how we work, but what we stand for.

Our Customer Feedback We appreciate every piece of feedback from our customers.

2016: Becoming a Himalayan Travel Network

The year 2016 marked a truly remarkable milestone in the history of Tibet Vista.

This year, Tibet Vista Nepal was officially established, allowing us to extend our service beyond Tibet and across the Himalayas. With offices in Lhasa, Kathmandu, and Chengdu, our Lhasa to Kathmandu overland tours, as well as the Kathmandu to Lhasa journey, quickly became some of our most popular itineraries — alongside our classic Everest tours.

From this point on, Tibet Vista was able to support travelers on both sides of the Himalayas, creating seamless journeys across borders and cultures.

That same year, we expanded further into the region with the launch of our Bhutan travel services, offering a more complete Himalayan travel experience. To support this, we introduced our official Bhutan website, bhutanvistatour.com, helping travelers explore Bhutan with the same care and depth.

In 2016, we also began operating chinatibettrain.com, a dedicated platform providing up-to-date information on Tibet train routes, schedules, and practical guidance. This platform made it easier for travelers worldwide to understand and plan journeys to Tibet by rail.

Yet among all these milestones, one launch held special meaning for us.

In 2016, tibetway.com, our global Chinese-language platform, officially went live. Created for Chinese communities around the world, it offers high-quality Tibet travel insights and thoughtfully designed itineraries tailored to their needs. Through this platform, we warmly invite Chinese travelers from across the globe to reconnect with Tibet — not as tourists, but as guests returning home.

Looking back, 2016 was not just a year of expansion.

It was the year Tibet Vista truly grew into a Himalayan-wide travel network, guided by the same values of care, responsibility, and connection that shaped our beginnings.

2017-2019: Experience First, Refining Every Detail

From 2017 to 2019, Tibet Vista made strong and steady progress in our brand, service quality, and travel knowledge.

During these years, we received several important awards from the Tibet Tourism Bureau, including Best Everest Tour Operator, Best Route Design, and Best Inbound Travel Service. These awards were not just recognition of our work, but also a reminder of our responsibility to do better.

At the same time, we began to rethink how travel should be done.

For us, one principle became very clear: the experience of our guests always comes first.

  • We pay attention to every detail.
  • We never overlook any traveler.
  • And we treat every journey with care and respect.

During this period, we welcomed travelers of all ages — from grandparents over 80 years old to babies only four months old. Each journey was special in its own way and showed us that Tibet travel can be safe and meaningful for everyone who truly wishes to come.

Our goal has always been simple: to help every traveler enjoy a safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable journey in Tibet, and to make their dream trip a reality.

We also worked to better serve travelers from different countries. Our German website, tibetrundreisen.com, was launched to make Tibet travel easier to understand for guests from Germany and other German-speaking regions.

During these years, our guide team grew to around 40 members. As more people came to know the Tibet Vista brand, we reminded ourselves to be even more careful, responsible, and thoughtful in our work.

Growing recognition never made us stop improving. It pushed us to do better.

Every moment, every day, every month, and every year, we strive to become just a little better than before.

2020-2022:Holding On and Moving Forward

From 2020 to 2022, the global economy and travel industry were hit by an unprecedented shock.

Travel around the world came to a sudden stop, and the future felt uncertain. Like many others, we faced great challenges, confusion, and moments when the path ahead was hard to see.

Even during this difficult time, Tibet Vista wanted to do something meaningful.

Above all, we hoped to support our local guides and provide them with work, so they could continue doing what they love, on the land we call home.

This led us to choose a new path.

We began creating videos about Tibet and sharing them with the world.

Through these videos, we not only created new work opportunities for part of our guide team, but also shared Tibet’s natural beauty, culture, faith, and everyday life with travelers who could not visit in person.

It was during this time that Tibet Vista’s YouTube channel officially began.

On screen, viewers may see Jamyang, our host. Behind the camera, however, were 10 experienced local guides, learning, filming, and growing together.

At the beginning, some of them didn’t even know where the camera shutter was. Over time, they became confident and skilled creators.

Jamyang also went through his own journey - from feeling shy and unsure in front of the camera, to truly enjoying telling stories through the lens.

The road was difficult, but it was also filled with joy, teamwork, and a strong sense of purpose. What started with zero subscribers has grown to over 230,000 followers, with total views exceeding 50 million.

Looking back, those years were a time of constant testing and growth.

We are grateful for the challenges life gave us - and for everything they taught us about persistence, collaboration, and love for what we do.

2023: Returning with Gratitude

The year 2023 marked the arrival of dawn.

After a long period of pause, the global travel industry slowly came back to life, and the journey began again.

In this year, the entire Tibet Vista team returned to our roles, ready to start anew. This return gave us a deeper appreciation for each day and a renewed love for our work.

Without forcing it, a shared belief naturally took shape among us: to never let down any traveler who places their trust in us, and to care for the land that we call home.

In 2023, we welcomed more than 3,000 international travelers from around the world. We are deeply grateful to everyone who chose to return to Tibet after three long years - for your love of this land, and for the support you brought to the recovery of our local communities, livelihoods, and employment.

For Tibet Vista, travel has always been more than a business — it is a responsibility. We strive to provide fair and dignified income for every member of our team, to balance opportunities as much as possible, and to help ensure that every family can live with stability, peace, and well-being.

After weathering the storm, we understand this more clearly than ever: a journey that truly lasts is not only about reaching distant places, but about cherishing the connections between people and the land, and between people themselves.

Tibet Vista Team We have gathered and are ready to welcome global tourists returning to Tibet.

2024–2025: Moving Forward with Care

The years 2024 and 2025 were filled with gratitude.

We are deeply thankful to travelers from around the world - both overseas and from Chinese communities abroad - who placed their trust in Tibet Vista and chose to explore Tibet with us.

During these two years, we welcomed more than 8,000 travelers in 2024, and over 10,000 travelers in 2025. This growing trust is an honor, but it also reminds us that our responsibility has become greater than ever.

We constantly ask ourselves: How can we do more for our guests?

To help travelers experience Tibet’s traditional culture in a deeper and more meaningful way, we worked closely with our Client Manager, Mr. Kunga, to create and operate our own experience space.

We chose this path because, within the existing market, we could not find the kind of cultural experience we truly wanted to offer - so we decided to build it ourselves.

At the same time, our guide team expanded to around 60 experienced professionals. Together with our guides, we continue to discuss, learn, and improve how we serve our guests in different destinations - whether at Mount Everest or Mount Kailash - focusing on how to ease altitude challenges and allow each journey to be enjoyed with comfort and peace of mind.

To further improve travel comfort, we also invested in new vehicles, making journeys across the plateau safer and more comfortable. In Tibet, travel vehicles are limited each year, and we have done our best to secure these resources — all to ensure a smoother experience on the road.

Although our team has grown larger, our work has become steadier and more confident. This is because everyone shares the same first principle: in every situation, we begin by thinking about our guests.

  • Do they feel safe and comfortable when traveling in Tibet with us?
  • Can they truly enjoy the journey?
  • Can this journey become a once-in-a-lifetime memory?

We are also proud to see that our total reviews across platforms such as Tripadvisor and Trustpilot have exceeded 5,000, along with a growing number of heartfelt video reviews shared by our guests.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated guides or the many team members working quietly behind the scenes at Tibet Vista. It is their care, respect, and attention to every traveler that allows this journey to continue.

A Letter from Tibet Vista Team Behind Your Tibet Journey - Thank You for Being Part of Our Tibet Travel Story

Tibet Vista in 2026: Starting Again, Walking Forward

The year 2026 marks a new beginning for Tibet Vista. It is a new journey, and a moment for us to reset.

We choose to put past honors behind us and return to zero - to travel light, with a clear heart. From this point forward, we focus on one simple direction: seeing every journey from our guests’ perspective, and doing everything we can to create meaningful experiences in Tibet.

  • Upgraded Accommodation at Everest Base Camp in Tibet

Improving Mount Everest Accommodation in 2026

For travelers heading to Everest, we will make every effort to arrange stays at Rongbuk Monastery Guesthouse, offering private bathrooms, heating, and the rare chance to enjoy sunrise and sunset views of Mount Everest directly from the room.

While accommodation conditions in the Everest region have improved in recent years, the lack of private bathrooms and sound insulation can still affect rest and comfort. We believe that good rest is an essential part of the journey.

So once again, we choose to go a little further - to offer better comfort, deeper peace of mind, and a more balanced travel experience.

  • In-depth Spiritual Experience with Our Mount Kailash Tour

Ensuring Seamless Mount Kailash Kora in 2026, the Holy Year of Horse

In the Tibetan calendar, 2026 is the Year of the Horse, also the busiest year for the Mount Kailash pilgrimage. According to our beliefs, completing one kora around Mount Kailash in a Horse Year is equivalent to completing thirteen koras in an ordinary year.

For this reason, Tibet Vista has made thorough preparations in advance. We have worked closely and repeatedly with local authorities and site management, aiming to maintain order, safety, and a calm travel environment during peak periods.

Through close cooperation with local partners, we will do our utmost to ensure that every traveler can complete the Mount Kailash kora safely, smoothly, and with a sense of fulfillment.

  • Trusted Tibet Travel with Tibet Vista

Building Trust and Improving with Every Step in 2026

In 2026, Tibet Vista hopes to once again present a result that stands up to trust — to our guests, and to the society we are part of.

We also sincerely invite every traveler to guide us, remind us, and help us improve.

Any suggestion, any concern, is always welcome. When issues arise, we promise to respond quickly, improve immediately, and stand firmly by our guests.

As we continue this journey forward, we are deeply grateful to have you walking alongside us.
