How to get Nepal Visa in Tibet

According to our over ten years’ experience in organizing Tibet tour for foreigners, about 30% of our customers extend their trip from Tibet to Nepal, most among them travel from Lhasa to Kathmandu across Tibet by overland. In fact, there are two ways of ways to get Nepal Visa, either to apply for Nepal visa from Consulate General Nepal in Lhasa or to get the Nepal visa upon arrival.

If it is not Friday or holiday of Nepal,usually you can get it within two days. If you summit materials in the morning, you can get Nepal visa in the next afternoon. The working time of Nepal Embassyis from 10:00-12:30 Monday to Friday. They would not accept your Nepal visaapplication in another time. the Consulate serve Chinese Citizen mostly, including those who come from Hongkong, Macau, because China does not allow its people exit China to Nepal without Nepali Visa, although Nepal side welcome Chinese people to enter their country by means of landing Visa. For most foreign tourists across Tibet to Nepal , they do not need apply for Nepal visa in Lhasa at all, tourists can get Nepal Visa on arrival at the border Kodari.

Kodari is located on the boundary of China and Nepal with an altitude of 2000 meters. It is an important trade port, which is only 120 kilometers away from Kathmandu – capital of Nepal. Tourists could leave Tibet for Kathmandu through the national boundary – the Friendship Bridge between China and Nepal. It just takes a few minutes walking. And then, tourists can get Nepal visa at the immigration office.

Nepal visa application requires your passport (more than 6 months period of validity), 2 ID photos of 2 inches, and another application form. The cost onapplying Nepal visa depends on the length of visa validity, around USD30 for 15days, USD50 for a month and USD120 for three months.

Chinese People are required to get Nepal Visa in Consulate General of Federal Democratic Republicof Nepal in Lhasa.
