The 55km long valley is downstream of PumQu in Tingri Country and covers an area of 440 km2. It’s a beautiful expanse of virgin juniper forest, wildflowers, and wild animals. The entire trek is set against the backdrop of some of the world’s highest mountains, like Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, and Mount Makalu.

The eight-day Gama Valley trek starts from Youpa Village and ascends 900m to the enchanting Showo-tso Pond. Day 2 is more challenging, the trek climbs over Showo La Pass (4,900m), before descending to Dolshang, the Orchid Valley. The next two days follow zigzag trails through pristine forests with breathtaking panoramas of Gama Valley and Mount Makalu (8,463m). By the end of day 4, glaciers start to appear, signaling that EBC is close.
