Upon arrival in Lhasa, your guide will meet you at the airport or train station and transfer you to your hotel in the city. On the way, you can enjoy views of highland valleys, distant snow-capped mountains, and the clear winter sky of Tibet.

As this is your first day at high altitude, no photography activities are arranged. The focus today is on rest and acclimatization.

After check-in, we recommend taking a good rest, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding showers, alcohol, and strenuous activity to help your body adjust to the altitude.

If you feel comfortable, you may take a short walk near your hotel and experience the calm atmosphere of winter Lhasa. With fewer tourists in the winter season, the city feels especially peaceful, with warm sunlight falling on Tibetan streets and traditional architecture.

For photography lovers, one of the main highlights of winter in Tibet is the clear air and excellent light conditions. In the coming days, you will photograph migratory birds, wetland ecosystems, Tibetan culture, and snow mountain lake landscapes across the plateau.

Today marks the first full day of your winter bird and eco photography tour in Tibet.

Today, you will head out with your guide to explore the best bird photography locations in LMap Lhasa and its surrounding areas, focusing on migratory birds, wetland ecosystems, and winter urban landscapes.

Winter is one of the best seasons for bird photography in Lhasa. With fewer tourists, clear air, and soft sunlight, it provides excellent conditions for both wildlife and landscape photography. Areas such as the Lhasa River, Lalu Wetland, and Zongjiao Lukang Park are home to migratory birds including black-necked cranes, bar-headed geese, and ruddy sheldducks.

In the morning, visit Lalu Wetland, one of the most important urban wetlands in Lhasa. On clear days, you can photograph birds flying over wetlands with snow mountains and blue skies in the background. This is one of the best locations for capturing Tibetan high-altitude ecosystem photography. Using a telephoto lens, you can also capture detailed behaviors such as feeding, flying, and resting birds.

With fewer tourists, it is easier to find clean compositions and enjoy a slower shooting pace.

Continue to Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street, the cultural heart of Lhasa. This area is always full of pilgrims who come to pray and perform kora. Along the streets, you can photograph local Tibetans turning prayer wheels, traditional clothing, street shops, and everyday life scenes.

After breakfast, depart from Lhasa and drive to Yamdrok Lake for a full day of winter landscape and wildlife photography.

On the way, cross Kamba La Pass. On clear days, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Yamdrok Lake from the viewpoint. From above, the lake shows different shades of blue under changing sunlight, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. This is one of the most iconic photography locations in Tibet.

Continue down to the lakeshore for slow-paced photography along Yamdrok Lake. In winter, the area is quieter, with fewer tourists and clearer water conditions. You will have time to photograph the lake, mountains, Tibetan villages, and highland roads at different viewpoints depending on light and weather conditions.

In addition to landscape photography, winter is also a good season for bird photography around Yamdrok Lake. You may spot migratory birds such as bar-headed geese and ruddy sheldducks. A telephoto lens is recommended for capturing wildlife behavior and details.
