From December 20, 2024, there will be direct flights between Singapore and Lhasa, making your journey to Tibet more convenient. Setting out on an odyssey from the vibrant city-state of Singapore to the mystical realms of Tibet is a voyage of a lifetime. The newly operated direct flights offer more options to travel to Tibet from Singapore.

Big News: Direct Flights from Singapore to Lhasa are Available in 2025

The direct flight from Singapore to Lhasa will officially start on December 20, 2024. This will be the second international flight route to Tibet. Whether you’re traveling from Singapore to Tibet or returning from Lhasa to Singapore, you’ll no longer need to transit through other cities. This saves you time and money, making your trip to Tibet from Singapore more convenient and enjoyable, and offering you a more comfortable and efficient travel experience.

Currently, the Singapore Lhasa flights are only operated by West Air. The Singapore to Lhasa flight departs on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 04:55 from Singapore Changri International airport. It takes around 10.5 hours to reach Lhasa Gonggar International Airport with a stopover in Chongqing. The returning flight departs at 17:40 from Lhasa and arrives in Singapore at 03:55 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

What Travel Documents are Required to Fly from Singapore to Tibet?

With China currently offering a 30-day visa-free policy for Singaporean passport holders, Singaporean travelers can travel to Tibet without a Chinese Visa. The Tibet Travel Permit is still required for Singaporean travelers to visit Tibet. The Tibet Travel Permit application is more convenient as you only need to provide a copy of your passport once you book your Tibet tour.

Fly from Singapore to Tibet via Chengdu: Top Recommended Connecting Route

Flying directly from Singapore to Chengdu and then to Tibet is the most popular transit route for Singaporean tourists. Located in the central part of Sichuan Province in western China, Chengdu is home to two sizable international airports with flights linking to destinations worldwide and provides the most frequent direct flights to Tibet.

There are three direct flights from Singapore to Chengdu every day, lasting around five hours, with prices of economy class ranging from SGD 300 to SGD 600.

The air ticket price is nearly SGD 560 in the peak season, while it is only around SGD 93 in the winter off-season.

For those who want to better adapt to the altitude of Tibet and avoid altitude sickness, it is recommended to enter Tibet from Nyingchi, which is only 2,800 meters above sea level. There are about four flights from Chengdu to Nyingchi every morning. The Chengdu to Nyingchi direct flight takes about 2 hours, with prices ranging from SGD 150 to SGD 370.

Traveling to Tibet via Xining is the best way to experience the train to Tibet. As the starting point of the famous Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the only railway to Tibet, Xining offers the shortest train journey to Lhasa around 22 hours. Located 2,261 meters above sea level, Xining is also a good place for you to acclimatize to the altitude of the Tibet Plateau before reaching Lhasa, which is 3,650 meters above sea level.
