June marks the beginning of early summer in Tibet, offering a gentle transition from late spring. During this time, the weather is generally warm, with minimal rainfall, plenty of clear days, and increased oxygen levels - making it an ideal season to start a Tibet tour.

For the temperature, most of the Tibet plateau enjoys warm weather, with average temperatures ranging from 9℃ to 22℃. In high-altitude areas like Everest Base Camp, Namtso Lake, and Mount Kailash, temperatures can vary significantly between day and night, but they typically remain above freezing.

What to Pack and Wear When Visiting Tibet in June?

June brings mild yet changeable weather to Tibet, so packing smart is key. In lower-altitude regions like Lhasa and Nyingchi, daytime temperatures are pleasant - perfect for wearing breathable long sleeves or a light jacket with sporty pants.

However, there is huge temperature difference between day and night. As temperatures drop sharply at night, especially in the mountains area, you'll want to layer up with a fleece or light down jacket and a warm sweater is reccommened if you want to enjoy the nightlife in Tibet.

If you're heading to higher-altitude areas such as Everest Base Camp or Mount Kailash, prepare for colder conditions. A thick down jacket is essential, along with warm socks and sturdy, insulated hiking boots - especially if you plan to trek the Kailash kora.

The strong UV rays at high elevations make sun protection a must. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat. Though June sees slightly more moisture, the air remains dry, so don’t forget lip balm and a good moisturizer. Sudden showers can happen, so a lightweight rain jacket that blocks wind and rain is also a smart addition.
