Road map for driving to the Elephant Gate

The normal Namtso tour would start from Lhasa, making all the way through Lagenla Pass (5190m) and then make a stop at Tashi Dor Island, the southern side of the sacred lake. That’s a more well-known spot and it’s easier to get to. Most tours stop here and go no further.

This will be a good spot to take some of the best photos you can ever take of this holy lake. And you can get away from the crowd at the lakeshore. Isn’t it cool?

According to an ancient local legend, it is said that the wedding ceremony of God of Nyanchen Thanglha and Goddess of Namtso Lake took place here at the gate. Emmm…it would be a meaningful site for couples to visit. Actually, two of our guests just made the trip to this holy spot a few days ago. Let’s have a look!
