Namtso Lake Travel Review of the 5th Group in June 2016
Latest Update: June,18 2024

Situated around 240km northwest of Lhasa, on the border between Damxung County and Baingoin County, Namtso Lake is the second-largest saline lake in Tibet. Normally, it takes about 5-7 hours’ drive to travel from Lhasa to Namtso. Yet, the lengthy ride does pay off with heavenly lake view against the backdrop snow-capped mountain range. Let’s take a look the great time our 5th group enjoyed in June in Tibet. (Tips: Top three sacred lakes in Tibet are Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Lake and Manasarovar Lake.)
Visited Sera Monastery, one of the Major Gelupa Buddhist Monasteries in Lhasa

The biggest draw in Sera Monastery nowadays is the monk debate held at debate courtyard at around 3:00PM. And monk debate is an essential practice for monks to show his understanding of profound theory and philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism and contradict with others. The clapping of their hands, yelling and other spirited gestures are so dramatic and entertaining for tourists to enjoy.
Happened to See Religious Rituals in Sera Monastery

When our tourists visited Sera Monastery, they came across a traditional religious ritual in which well-dressed monks chanted special Buddhist mantra to burn all the evil spirits in life.
Jointly Celebrated Birthday for the Tour Member

All the tourists of Tibet Vista will receive fair and equal treatment. As a fine tradition, if any tourists who happen to have their birthday during Tibet tour, our guide will hold a birthday party for them with other group members.
Filled with Happy and Grateful Feelings

On The Way to Namtso Lake via Nagenla Pass (5190m)

Nagenla Pass(5190m) is the highest place that tourists have to pass before reaching sacred Namtso Lake(4718m). It’s a great place to enjoy the vista of Namtso Lake.
