Why Take the Everest Base Camp and Namtso Lake Tour in Tibet
Latest Update: June,18 2024

Shigatse, the second largest city next to Lhasa in Tibet, is home to world’s highest mountains, a unique land loaded with infinite opportunity for adventure. Compared with south Everest Base Camp(5364m) in Nepal, north Everest Base Camp(5200m) in Tibet promises grander panoramic view Mt. Everest (8844.43m).
The10-day Tibet tour package of Lhasa, EBC and Namtso lake allows tourists to enjoy the two most celebrated lakes in Tibet, namely turquoise Yamdrok Lake and heavenly Namtso Lake as well as plenty of prominent Buddhist monasteries. Particularly, as tourists move from Tingri to Everest Base Camp, they can appreciate the top 5 highest mountains along Himalayan Range.
Let’s recall the wonderful Tibet tour experience enjoyed by our 5th group tour of Lhasa, EBC and Namtso tour.
Tour Jokhang Temple: The Center of Buddhist Pilgrimage in Lhasa

If tourists are keen to experience the strongest Buddhist ambience and witness closely how pious Tibetan pilgrims practice religious kora (circling around Buddhist sites) and worship the supreme Buddhist compound in Lhasa, visiting Jokhang Temple is definitely the best choice.
Visit Sera Monastery: One of the Top Three Gelugpa Monasteries in Lhasa

Amid the top three Gelugpa monasteries in Lhasa (The other two are Drepung Monastery and Ganden Monastery), Sera Monastery is the one with the most dramatic sight, i.e. “monk debate” held at 15:00 in the afternoon. Monks perform a "kind of dance" consisting in jumping, claping hands and roll the mala through the arm while asking questions to a sat monk who, armed with his knowledge and a unyielding attitude, has to give the right answers.
Travel to Gyantse Dzong: Historic Site of Heroic Resistance against British Invasion

As tourists move from Shannan Prefecture to historic Gyantse County, the first mind-blowing view that will come to your sight would be the imposing Gyantse Dzong or Gyantse fortress. The magnificent fortress is perched high above the brown rock, protecting the Gyantse county. Since the historic building bears witness to the Tibetans’ heroic residence against British aggression from 1903 to 1904, now the architecture is mostly used as a museum and each year there will be a grand celebration over Tibetan’s victory against foreign aggression.
Explore Everest Base Camp: Pray before the North Face of Mt. Everest (8844.43m)

The best time to travel to Everest Base Camp is from April to June and from Sept. to Nov when the visibility is extremely high. Therefore, if you come in summer time, it’s likely that part of the Mt. Everest might be shrouded by dense clouds due to the monsoon. To physically strong guys, you may choose to trek from Rongbuk Monastery to EBC, which is about 8km walk. Spending the night at EBC is a life-time experience and you can stay in the comfortable tents and chat with other international tourists.
Enjoy the Awe-inspiring Scenery at EBC

Stroll around Heavenly Namtso Lake: one of Top Three Sacred Lakes in Tibet

Holy Namtso Lake is the second largest saline lake in China (biggest one being the Qinghai Lake). While the other two most famous sacred lakes are Yamdrok Lake (Shannan Prefecture) and Manasarovar Lake ( Ngari Prefecture). The surrealistic lake view against the backdrop of miles of lofty mountain ranges, notably known as Nyenchen Tanglha Range, simply defies human description. Only when you stroll along the lakeside while enjoying the lake so up-close can you fully understand the holiness and beauty of Namtso Lake, a highly recommended Tibet tour destination for all.
