Photo Story of Tibetan Wedding

The distinctive Tibetan wedding is a reflection of Tibetan ethnic and folk culture. Before the ceremony begins, the newly-weds will hang up prayer flags and welcome the blessings from above.

On their wedding day, they will accept hundreds of Khada, a scarf presented by their relatives and friends, and then they will propose a toast to the sky, earth, and their ancestors.

Generally, the couples will exchange rings at the wedding, but the mani stone and kallaite are considered the most significant tokens of love for Tibetan couples.

A performance with dancing and singing will be essential in the latter part of the wedding ceremony.

In the end, the new couples will free captive animals and invite lamas to chant sutras, with the aim to pray for themselves.
