A Glimpse of Thousand Buddha Cliffside Sculpture
The Thousand Buddha Cliffside Sculpture, located on the western side of Mt.Yaowang (Mt.King of Medicine, a hill on the right side of the Potala Palace), is one of the most popular destinations on the pilgrims' ritual walk path along Lingkor Road in Lhasa, Tibet.
It is said that the Thousand Buddha Cliffside Sculpture has a history spanning more than one thousand years, during which people kept carving Buddha statues and sculptures on the cliff.
Those stone plates are called Mani stones, and are inscribed with six syllables - mantra Om mani padme hum (which literally means "Hail to the jewel in the lotus") as a form of prayer in Tibetan Buddhism.
