Part of Shigatse and Ngari are reopened

Affected by the earthquake, part of Shigatse and Ngari are reopened to visitors today after shutting down for some days. Tourists can visit Shigatse via Gyangze and return to Lhasa via China-Nepal Highway 318, which is one of the favorite routes of foreign tourists. Travelers can visit many scenic spots along the way, including Yamdrok Lake, Karuola glacier, Baiju Monastery, Pala Manor, Shalu monastery, Tashilhunpo monastery, Gyung drung gling monastery and so on. It is very convenient for you to transact your documents, which only need permits of Tourist Bureau.
At present, there are two ways to Ngari Prefecture. You can fly to Ngari from Lhasa and fly back to Lhasa. Or you can get to Holy Lake and Holy Mountain by car via Gyangz, Shigatse, Lhatse, Saga, Zhongba and Payang, and you can also continue forwards to Zhada Earth Forest National Geopark, ancient Guge Kingdom and northern Ngari, that is, there is no problem to visit most of the places in Ngari. Only some heavily affected areas near the southern border, like the roads to Geelong and Zhangmu are still under traffic control.

In addition, we have not received accurate official news about when will the Mount Everest be reopened. But we predict that the Mount Everest will be reopened in the next week once all of local victims have been resettled properly.
