On Monday (Oct. 14), heavy snow hit
Everest Base Camp of Tibet suddenly. 86 tourists, including 13 foreigners, were trapped at the base camp, but all have evacuated from the base camp with the help of rescuers. The tour guides of Tibet Travel Org were also trying the best to help the travelers to overcome the bad weather.
The snowstorm blocked the roads when those tourists were about to go downhill after sightseeing at the base camp. The local government of Tibet organized more than 40 rescuers and machinery to clear the way. The government said 78 tourists who had been stranded at the camp were moved to a nearby hotel and were all safe. As of 5 pm of Monday, eight people had left Rongbuk Monastery and headed to Tingri, the nearest town.
