Tibet Everest Base Camp was closed to all foreigners since May 2012, but it has reopened to all travelers since April 2013. In this April, some tourists have visited Mt. Everest Base Camp (EBC) with the help of Tibettravel Org.

April and May are regarded as the best time for mountaineering enthusiasts to climb Mt. Everest. Flocks of climbers with different colors gather at the Everest Base Camp, turning the base camp into a small UN. For tourists, it is also a great time to visit Everest as you get a chance to witness several brave climbers as well as enjoy a close view of the real appearance of the world’s highest peak. The Mt. Everest is always surrounded by cloud and mist in the other seasons, but not in this season.

As the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest is known by people all over the world. Tourists can enjoy an Everest Base Camp Tour from Lhasa or Kathmandu or they can just stop at a viewpoint along Highway 318 to have a glimpse of the Everest, from a distance of 90km.
On the way to EBC
If you travel from Lhasa to EBC, it takes around 8 days to do the tour, including two sightseeing days in Lhasa for acclimation and visiting famous tourist sites, Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery. Then on the way to EBC, you can view beautiful Yarlung Valley, turquoise Yamdrok Lake, spectacular Karola Glaciers and grand ancient monasteries, like Ganytse Kumbum, Tashilhunpo and Sakya monasteries.
