First-hand News on Tibet Permit 2013, Tibet is closed

Our company attended a meeting held by Tibet Tourism Bureau yesterday and got the first-hand news on Tibet permit 2013 that Tibet Tourism Bureau will stop issuing Tibet permits in February and March, 2013. It means that Tibet will be closed to foreigners during Feb. and Mar. in 2013.

Only two travellers in a Tibet tour group can get Tibet permit after March 2013

According to our over ten years’ experience in organizing Tibet tours for foreigners. It is common for Tibet to be closed to foreign travelers during March since 2008 and Tibet generally will reopen to foreigners in April, but there is no official statement on the reopen time of Tibet this year. Thus, it is best to postpone your Tibet tour to May if you have booked Tibet tours in Feb. and Mar. in 2013.

We know you might be disappointed to see this news when you have booked your Tibet tour and are preparing to travel to Tibet next month, but this situation is really out of our control. We will keep tracing the policy on Tibet permit and updating news on the permit. And please trust us, we will spare no efforts to help you get Tibet permit once Tibet begins to issue permits again.

In addition, Tibet still requires at least five travelers with the same nationality to apply for Tibet permit and travel in Tibet together. Therefore, if you do not have travel mates, it is best to book Tibet tour in advance and we will find proper Tibet travel partners for you so as to get Tibet permit successfully.
