My name is Jankie Singh, and along with my husband Kishore Singh, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to your company, Tibet Vista.
Me and My Husband.
Our tour organizer, Kristin Liu went beyond the call of duty to assist us in making this dream trip a reality. I must also give a heartful thanks to our tour guide Serena for making our trip enjoyable.
Inspired by Friendship: How a Shared Journey Sparked Our Pilgrimage to Mt.Kailash
During the Mountain Kailash Trekking.
The thought of visiting Tibet all started when I saw Mini and Sunit Joshi embarked Mt.Kailash tour a couple years ago. She posted on social media, beautiful pictures of themselves at Mt Kailash, the Holy Mountain and different places in Tibet.
When I saw these pictures, I reached out to her. She replied and told me all about their spiritual journey and the person who organized it for them. She passionately told me that Kristin liu, from Tibet Vista organized the tour for them.
In front of Mt.Kailash.
Her exact words, “Kristin is awesome” and I can vouch that after our experience with her, she is indeed awesome. Getting this kind of support makes you as a tourist, being so far away from home feel so safe, contented and happy.
To make it more exciting, Mini told me that she and her husband and friends were going back to Kailash with the hope of touching Mt.Kailash. I was so excited for her and also for ourselves. She also promised to send videos and pictures of their trip and indeed she did.
Yamdrok Lake.
She did get to touched Kailash which was majestic. It was the happiest moment for me at the time seeing her touching Kailash. This motivated me so much as I wanted to touch Mt.Kailash too.
This was a Maha (big) pilgrimage for us as Hindus. From the said time that Mini posted her pictures, the thought started materializing in my subconscious mind until I finally told my husband that we are going Mt Kailash. He was very supportive. Words are not enough to explain my heartfelt gratitude to Mini Joshi for her close guidance, support and encouragement.
Overcoming Hurdles: From Visa Challenges to Reaching Lhasa with Tibet Vista's Support
Our very first challenge was getting the Visa from the Chinese embassy of our country. This was the first time people from our country of Trinidad and Tobago wanted to visit Tibet and so they were sceptical in giving us the visa. We had four appointments with the Chinese embassy and finally got through the fifth time.
This was a momentous day for us as thanked the Almighty for this success. Finally, we made down payment for our trip and start buying all needed items. We choose the 16 days Mt.Kailash tour package as we specifically wanted to touch Kailash. My every communication with Kristin was employing to touch Mt Kailash and touch the water of Holy Lake Manasarova.
Finally, the day had reach for us to set off on our wonderful journey. All our travels were great until, we reached China. We did not get to continue our journey from China to Lhasa as the Chinese Immigration wanted the original copies of the Tibet travel permit.
We had the printed copy of the Tibet permit; however, they did not accept it and so we missed our flight to Lhasa. I am in tears as I type this at the moment, I was heart broken at the airport.
Thank God I took a roaming package from my country and it worked only in China and never again so I was able to contact Kristin. Oh! She did great by quickly booking tickets for us to take a after lunch flight to Chengdu and night over. Thank you, Kristin, for being so prompt in helping us getting over this big anxiety.
Next morning we had an early, beautiful flight to Lhasa where we were received happily by one of Tibet Vista agent. We were received in Lhasa and met with our tour guide Serena and all the other beautiful people of our group. Phone contact was a disaster as I had to use another group member to keep in contact with my family.
From Potala Palace to Parikrama: Embracing Challenges and Sacred Moments in Tibet
Face to Face with Mt.Kailash.
Our adventure began on the very first day by visiting the Potala Palace. It was beautiful but a very challenging climb up to every part of the Palace. Thanks to Mini for stressing the need for us taking Diomax tablet for altitude sickness.
Thank you Mini – May Shivaji bless you. It was exciting going from Monastries to Monastries and learning so much about the different Dalai Lamas. Lots of long-distance driving but the driver was a safe a pleasant driver. Thank you for giving us a safe and memorable journey.
A very big challenge was for us Hindus who do not eat meat or meat products had to have lunch and dinner in non-vegetarian restaurants. This was very difficult for us and had to settle sometimes with the snacks we brought from home and also from other members of the group who shared with us.
Tibet Vista did well in providing us with water, oxygen tanks and at times snacks from Serena. Thank you, Serena, we really appreciated you and all that you did to make us happy and comfortable.
The Photo of the Entire Group.
The cream of the crop for us was getting a glimpse of Holy Mt Kailash while doing Parikrama. Thank God we took porter and the pony for the Mt Kailash trip. Parikrama (walking around) Mt.Kailash was happiness beyond words.
Another challenge upon meeting our Dormitory was not being to have vegetarian meals and bathroom facilities to do our private bodily stuff. Most important was having vegetarian meal prepared in a vegetarian kitchen before climbing up to Mt.Kailash would have been a blessing for me, especially for the energy that was needed for this trek.
Reaching New Heights Together: A Team Effort on the Sacred Path to Mt. Kailash
Then the moment that we were waiting for came, we started the trek up Mt Kailash. Taking our time going up was a must. My husband and I were climbing slowly up with the others in our group. As we reach quarter up the trek, I started having difficultly going up further and further.
Thank God for Venu who noticed that I was having difficulty and came to my rescue. Venu together with two other group members Jaswinder and Dr.Ansshu helped me trek up little by little. Thank you so much for your support, without you all together with my husband made it possible to reach our goal.
We did not get the opportunity to touch Holy Mt Kailash as rocks were falling but it was a great accomplishment for my husband and myself. Our dream came true just by being so close to Holy Mt Kailash. Thank you, Bholenath, for your blessings.
Our group members were really a blessing as we all moved like a team. A big thank you to the following members of our group: Dr Vivek, Dr Shubhra, Venu and Dr Anjana, Jaswinder, Dr Shilpa, Rajshekar, Lizelle, Max, and others. God bless you all. It was an awesome Tibet trip despite our challenges.
