I recently joined the Lhasa to Everest Base Camp tour with Tibet Vista, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable trips of my life. I had been dreaming about visiting Tibet for years, and this journey gave me exactly what I was hoping for - a deep, genuine experience of the land, the people, and their culture.
Discovering the Spiritual Heart of Lhasa
From the moment we arrived in Lhasa, I was amazed. The Potala Palace was absolutely stunning - not just as an architectural wonder, but for the powerful energy and history it holds. Standing there, I could feel how deeply spirituality is woven into Tibetan life.
We also visited several monasteries in Lhasa, each with its own character and atmosphere, and what struck me most was the monks themselves. Unlike in some other places I’ve been, they were so open, joyful, and full of laughter. There was a sense of lightness and authenticity in the way they interacted with each other and with us, which made the experience feel very alive and real.
Even on a cloudy day, the majestic Potala Palace exudes a solemn grandeur.
The visit to Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet. A Knowledgeable Guide Who Brought Tibetan Culture to Life
Our Tibetan guide from Tibet Vista was wonderful - knowledgeable, kind, and patient. She helped us understand the symbolism behind the images of deities, the meaning of the mudras, and how Buddhism shapes every aspect of daily life in Tibet. I learned so much from her explanations and stories.

The Spectacular Overland Journey from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp in Tibet
The overland journey from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp was long but breathtaking. The landscapes changed constantly - from high mountain passes and turquoise lakes to vast open plains. At times, it felt like driving across another planet.
Reaching the base camp itself was surreal. We couldn’t see the full peak of Everest because it was hidden behind clouds, but we did get to see the famous Fantasy Ridge, which has never been climbed.
Right next to the base camp, we also visited Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world and even joined monks chanting - a moment that really stayed with me.

It was a pity that Everest was clouded in, but I finally made it to Everest Base Camp.Comfortable Travel and Well-Organized Tour Arrangements by Tibet Vista
Another thing I really appreciated about this tour was the organization. Tibet Vista did an excellent job choosing hotels and restaurants - they were clean, comfortable, and often had great local food.
The Everest Base Camp tent hotel was far beyond my expectations - it was a real hotel inside a tent, with double and single rooms, warm blankets, clean bedsheets, hot water, and even a living room with AC! I couldn’t believe such comfort existed at that altitude.
I also want to mention that I really valued the fact that there was no “forced shopping” - we were never pressured to buy anything, which made the experience feel much more relaxed and authentic.

Experiencing the Real Spirit of Tibet
Throughout the journey, I had the chance to try local cuisine, meet local people, and see how Tibetan culture and Buddhism are inseparable from the rhythm of daily life. Every day brought something new - a prayer flag whipping in the wind or a glimpse of a mountain glowing in the sunset.

By the end of the trip to Everest Base Camp, I felt both humbled and inspired. Tibet is unlike anywhere else I’ve ever been - not only because of its landscapes, which are truly otherworldly, but because of the strength, warmth, and spirit of its people.
This journey wasn’t just about reaching Everest Base Camp; it was about connecting with a culture that lives from the heart.
I’m deeply grateful to Tibet Vista for making it such a smooth, educational, and heartfelt experience. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to truly experience Tibet - not just see it.
