Luggage Allowance When Taking Flights to Tibet

November,19 2019 BY Kham Sang 0 COMMENTS

Taking flights to Lhasa must be the most convenient way to get to Tibet. Before boarding the plane, tourists should have a clear grasp of luggage allowance and limitations, including the check-in luggage, carry-on baggage, free luggage allowance, overweight luggage free, limited liquids, prohibited items, etc. Tibet Vista offers the most comprehensive luggage guide for your flight to Tibet.

Check-in Luggage

Each piece of the check-in luggage should be within 50kg with the volume of 40x60x100cm. For the safety of your checked baggage, you’d better lock the suitcases and pack the cartons and woven bags. Tibet Vista suggests you to affix your personal name or make a special mark on the baggage so that it would be much easier to find when there is something wrong with the luggage transport.

Check-in LuggageThe check-in luggage should be within 50kg with the volume of 40x60x100cm.

As for the large pieces of special items, you must obtain the consent of the airlines before the consignment. Important files and documents, Tibet travel permits, precious belongings, jewelry and valuables, cash and securities, digital electronic products and lithium batteries, flammable and explosive materials, other vulnerable and perishable goods, etc. must not be transported as or put in the checked luggage.

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger can take one piece of baggage on the plane to Tibet for free. And the airlines also have the limitation on its size and weight. The carry-on baggage should be within 5kg with the volume of 20x40x55cm. Only the first class passengers can bring two pieces altogether.

Carry-on BaggageThe carry-on baggage should be within 5kg with the volume of 20x40x55cm.

Lithium battery electronics (including watches, calculators, cameras, mobile phones, laptops, and camcorders, etc) which can not be transported as the checked luggage, are only allowed to be carried with passengers. Each tourist can only take two backup lithium batteries onboard.

Lighters, liquids, knives, etc. are forbidden to be brought on the plane.

Free Luggage Allowance

According to the regulations and provisions of Civil Aviation Administration of China, tourists can carry on and check in a specified size and weight of luggage for free when taking flights to Tibet.

The free baggage allowance for each passenger (including carry-on and check-in baggage) varies with the flight ticket class. That’s to say, the free luggage allowance is 40kg for first class passengers (adult and child), 30kg for business class passengers, 20kg for economy class passengers. And there is no free allowance for infant ticket passengers.

Overweight Luggage Fee

If your luggage exceed the free baggage allowance specified in the Tibet flight tickets, you’ll will be charged for the overweight part and fill in an excess baggage receipt. The overweight baggage rate is calculated at 1.5% of the economy class fares for per kilogram.

Limited Liquids for Carry-on

If you carry liquids or gels that do not meet safety requirements, these items and containers can only be discarded. And the security won’t provide the storage services. Therefore, please put the following liquids, gels and aerosols in the checked luggage for security checks:
