Bhutan Visa & Permit Application for Thailand Tourists
Somewhat similar to visiting Tibet, international tourists visiting Bhutan, including Thailand tourists, are expected to book your tour via a licensed Bhutanese travel agency. Since independent travel is not available to the majority of travelers, (With the exception of Indians, Bangladeshis, and Maldivians), a minimum of 30 days’ pre-booking is needed to sort out the Bhutan Visa and other details like the hotel, dining, flight and guide service.
After you book your Bhutan tour with us, you are expected to email the photos of your passport to our travel consultants who will help you get Bhutan Visa clearance. Once you arrive in Paro, our Bhutanese guide will get Bhutan Visa stamp (7 day’s entry) for you with the visa clearance at the airport. For touring some restricted areas beyond Paro and Thimphu, your guide will help you get the necessary permits prior to your visit.
How to Get to Bhutan from Thailand? Multiple ways to travel from Thailand to Bhutan.
Taking the non-stop flight (3hrs’ duration) from Bangkok to Paro is the fastest way to reach Bhutan. Currently, only Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines offer the flight service. While most of the non-stop flights are run by Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines provides direct flight with one stop in India.
If you find there is a need to combine your Bhutan tour with other intriguing destinations, several travel routes are available. For example, firstly fly from Bangkok to Alipurduar or other places, close to Phuentsholing and Gelephu, and later enter Bhutan by these two major overland gateway cities to Bhutan.
Of course, you may also fly from Bangkok to Kathmandu (3h30min) and change flight the next day from Kathmandu to Paro (1h15min). If you plan for a long visit, then taking flight from Bangkok to Chengdu (3h10min) and take Chengdu to Lhasa train (36h18min) to Tibet and experience the Lhasa to Kathmandu overland tour via EBC and finally fly from Kathmandu to Paro will be an ultimate travel route to experience.
