1. For such a short journey, can I travel independently in Lhasa?

Answer: I'm afraid not. No matter how short or long your Tibet tour is, all international tourists can only visit Tibet via a guided tour, either a small group tour or a private tour, with a local Tibet travel agency like us.

2. Do I need to be worried about the altitude sickness issue for Tibet tour?

Well, let me put it in this way. It's definitely unnecessary to worry about altitude sickness for traveling in Tibet. Instead, having some basic ideas to prevent it is a must-do, esp. to first-timers to Tibet, for example, don't rush to visit attractions upon your arrival in Lhasa. The quick ascent (over 1800m/day) should be avoided.

Firstly, all the travelers visiting places with an altitude of above 3000m will have some physical reactions to the altitude ascent. And the actual symptoms vary from person to person. some may have a headache, shortness of breath, while others may have fatigue or insomnia, fast heartbeat, etc. It's quite common and there is no need to panic. - Learn from experts on how to avoid acute altitude sickness in Tibet.

A coup of days later, you will feel much better as your body gets acclimatized to the Tibetan Plateau. It's advisable to consult the doctor or prepare some medication for easing the altitude sickness before leaving for Tibet. Meanwhile, throughout your tour, our local tour leader will closely follow your health and offer timely help like oxygen supply, etc. With our designated customer manager,24/7 call service and professional team's support, you will enjoy a safe and pleasing journey in Tibet.

3. Where are the most recommended places to visit in 4 days in Lhasa?

If you are the first-timers to Lhasa, we suggest you spending the first day in your hotel for the body to adapt to the high altitude. Then, on day 2, visit the landmark attractions like Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, and Potala Palace. Don't miss exploring the teahouse and backstreet of the old Lhasa region and the Zongjiao Lukang park behind the Potala Palace, where you will learn more of Tibetan lives.

On day 3, enjoy the hike in Drepung Monastery and in the afteroon watch the lively monk debate in Sera Monastery; if you are in a private tour, then magnificent Ganden Monastery, where you can do kora and enjoy great view of Kyichu Valley or make it to famous cliff-side Buddhist retreat of Dra Yerpa Monastery for a meditation.

For a family visit, the Norbulingka Palace, the summer place of Dalai Lamas, is recommended for a picnic. For more suggestions, please feel free to reach our local travel experts.

4. Any nice hotels to recommend in Lhasa?

If you look for hotels close to Jokhang Temple, the center of Lhasa, we suggest you stay in Gang Gyan Hotel(4-star), which is only minutes walk to Barkhor street with a quiet and peaceful location.

For more luxury stay, St. Regis Lhasa Resort and Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Lhasa and Songtsam Choskyi Linka Lhasa, and Intercontinental Lhasa Paradise (far away from downtown) are recommended.

Prefer a Tibetan-style hotel, Tashi Choeta Boutique hotel and the House of Shambhala are two of the best choices. - Check for more hotel choices in Tibet.
