Tips for Train to Tibet
Qinghai-Tibet railway is 1956km in length, but 80% of which is 4000 meters above the sea level. The Tanggula station, the hightest train station of the world, is at an altitude of 5068km. Qinghai-Tibet railway has the topmost train tunnel through the plateau permafrost, Fenghuoshan Mountain, which is at an elevation of 4905km. The railway construction created more "No.1" in the world.
Compared with the flight to Tibet, the train costs a long time to Tibet. However, the scenery along Qinghai-Tibet railway is very charming. The average temperature of the whole year remains below Zero degrees Celsius in the area Qinghai-Tibet railway crosses. The oxygen level along the railway is 50% or 60% lower than that of the inland.
